Some quick ideas to help sell your home faster and for more money.
1. Fix mould and remove all damp
It is a common misconception that sellers believe they need to invest tens of thousands of dollars to upgrade the kitchen or bathroom, but new research shows that potentially more harmful, is the presence of mould or damp in a kitchen or bathroom area. Dehumidifiers and ventilation systems can help eliminate mould and damp especially in the bathroom.
Also, an un-renovated kitchen or bathroom could be a huge drawcard for those buyers wishing to add their own style to these important areas in a home.
2. Install clever lighting
Installing skylights is a great way to enhance dark rooms due to poor natural lighting. Dark rooms can turn off more than a third of potential buyers!
If you are able to, allow natural light inside the room. This opens up the interior and makes it look larger. Add some creative effects using lighting fixtures if you do not have a lot of natural light. This small addition can make a big difference!
3. Find storage solutions
Another turn off for potential buyers is the lack of storage space. It may be worth installing shelving units, utility cupboards, cabinets and wardrobe organisers.
If a wardrobe is very full of clothes it’s only going to draw attention to how small it is. Weed through what you have so the wardrobe looks ample, not overflowing.”
A great local place for wardrobe storage solutions is Re Space with solutions for any wardrobe, walk-in wardrobes, laundries and home office spaces.
4. Paint the rooms white
It is a generally known fact that light colors make a room look bigger and brighter. Dark colors, on the other hand, tend to absorb light, making a room look smaller. Consider painting the rooms white as light and bright walls are more reflective and can give the illusion of the room being more open and airy.
5. Get rid of bulky furniture
Similarly, to aid a smaller room to appear bigger, remove bulky furniture and declutter. A cluttered room equals a smaller room!
Keep your room tidy and organized. Having too many things in a room can make a small space feel cramped. Neatly arrange items out of sight, and the space that is in view will feel open and orderly.
Also don’t cover your walls with a lot of pictures. One large painting works better than a group of small paintings.
And keep the floor as clear as possible taking out large rugs to create the illusion of more floor space.
